For years we have owned a Porta-mag kennel module.It`s magnetic field therapy has helped many of our retired greyhounds in many different ways.It can calm excitable dogs and it can reduce the healing times of injured animals.We find it works well with broken bones.The only downside to this was that the dogs were confined to the Mag box for this treatment.Most dogs don`t have a problem with this and can drift off to sleep whilst being treated.
For years I personally have suffered with back problems and I thought if this can work for the dogs could it work for me ? I took the top off the mag box and after a few sessions I could feel the difference.I phoned Dave at Romar Electronics who make the Porta-Mag and found him extremely helpful, although amused I had stuffed myself into a kennel module.Dave then made me my own porta mag,where the coils went under my mattress. He has since made the same for my cousin.Then I got to thinking,if I can have a bed with these magnets in ,then maybe the dogs could have a bed like this and they can be treated in their own kennel.Once again I phoned Dave and asked him what he thought.He agreed to make a bed for the dogs and asked all the measurements so he would know how many coils to put in.
The bed duly arrived and it was easy to install.I took the front panel off the bench,pushed the mag bed in and replaced the front.I ran the wires behind the wood out the way and attached the transformer box to it.I tested it with the supplied magnet and all was working beautifully.The dog in the picture is Ebony who has had her troubles and it is easing her pain,she`s happy on it as you can see.The dog who has amazed us with her recovery on this bed is Sweetie,who had a broken hock.Sweetie`s hock was doing well until the splint snapped and made a mess of her leg.Her leg wasn`t healing and she couldn`t have support on it by this time.What a difference this has made to her,Sweetie walks over a mile and a half every day and runs in the paddock with her friends at night.She is now ready for homing.A very generous donation from Sweetie`s owner paid for half of our new bed.We still have two porta-mag kennel modules but have decided to sell one now.
